“Be strong and courageous! For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go”  (Joshua 1:9 NLT)

We are delighted to offer the 3rd Celebrate Scotland weekend. It is a conference for all, young and old, open to individuals and families alike and from any church background. We know that there is something for all the family, in all its shapes and forms.

We would like to give a big welcome back to all our ‘old-timers’ from last year and we warmly invite anyone who is thinking of joining us for the first time this year. We eagerly anticipate being inspired and encouraged in our faith through inspiring talks, creative liturgy and exciting worship. The weekend will model what it is to belong to a thriving and diverse faith community.

Amongst other things, our programme includes:

  • Inspired teaching from our great speakers

  • Creative liturgy and Celebration of the Holy Mass

  • Excellent Children’s & Youth Ministry, led by experienced leaders

  • Time and space to encounter Christ’s healing touch in Adoration, Reconciliation and Prayer Ministry

Our hope is that we will all be inspired to return to our various homes and parishes with renewed hope and purpose.

You are especially welcome if you have not attended an event like this before. You will find a relaxed and friendly atmosphere waiting for you. We look forward to seeing you!

If you have attended Celebrate before, we encourage you to invite someone who hasn’t, so they too can experience what you already have; there is lots to celebrate and share, so be bold and invite someone you know! Why not invite your friends who aren’t Catholic to come and share this experience with us?

Our Speakers

David Wells

David Wells is an internationally renowned speaker and consultant. He began teaching in 1985 often working with the 14-16 year-olds who felt most demotivated. Later he worked in London for the Catholic Education Service providing in-service training opportunities for staff in Catholic schools. This was followed by two Diocesan roles first as an Education Adviser in the Nottingham diocese and then in 2000, in Exeter as Director of Formation for the Plymouth Diocese until 2018. He has enjoyed serving conferences in every diocese and corner of England and Wales and most of the dioceses in Scotland. He has written 2 successful books The Reluctant Disciple and The Grateful Disciple.

A popular speaker at conferences including the main Celebrate Conference and many of the Celebrate Weekends, we are delighted to welcome David to Celebrate Scotland.

Fiona Marron

Fiona Marron lives in the North East of Scotland with her husband of 27 years. She was brought up in England by Glaswegian parents and returned to Scotland at eighteen. She is from an evangelical non-denominational background but has always been blessed by other Christian traditions and liturgies. She now worships and serves at her local Vineyard church in Aberdeenshire. As an Emergency nurse practitioner, she worked in Aberdeen A&E for over fifteen years and loved it. Her aim is to be continually filled with Holy Spirit so that others will see Jesus in her and be blessed.

We are delighted that she is part of the organising team for Celebrate Scotland and having presented some workshops for us in our first year, she is excited about being one of our main speakers.

Anthony Gielty

Anthony and his lovely family were with us last year, when he did two excellent workshops. This year he is back with us as a main speaker. His testimony is a powerful story of transformation of how God has moved in his life to take him from being imprisoned for attempted murder to becoming one of Scotland’s most violent inmates then to giving his life to Jesus and now working to share the good news of what God has done in his life to bring hope to others. When Anthony speaks, people listen, because they hear something that is genuine, heartfelt and moving. Anthony has turned his hand to writing and has now had 2 books published.

As well as delivering the talks, our speakers will be giving us 1 or 2 workshops and will be joined by many other exciting workshop providers.

Children’s and Youth Streams

Our school age children and young people all join a ‘stream’ appropriate to their own age group (the year groups are as at date of the Conference).

  • Little Stars Crèche (Age 0-4) - A room near the main hall is provided for parents with pre-school children with a video link to the main hall. There will be play resources and materials for them. Children must be supervised by parents.

  • Little Fishes - Primary 1-3

  • Bright Lights - Primary 4-5

  • New Creations - Primary 6-7

  • Living Waters - S1 - S4

  • Ignite - S5 - 22 yrs

The whole conference is together for the daily Celebration of the Eucharist. For most of the conference, the streams each follow their own programmes led by PVG accredited adult leaders. Here the young people follow the same conference theme but in a way that will engage their different needs. Our young people are guided through an exploration of their faith in a way that brings them into closer relationship with one another and with God. To ensure correct safeguarding procedures are followed each stream will be limited to 25 and any special needs must be clearly stated on the booking form. It is essential that you book early if you want to be assured of a place and certainly no later than September 1st.

All school age children/young people must have a designated fee-paying adult present at the conference.
